  • HISTORY ASPECTS:
  • The Sd.Kfz. 186 Jagdtiger was the largest and most heavily armed German tank destroyer to reach operational service during World War II. Based on a lengthened Tiger II chassis, it combined exceptionally thick armor with the formidable 12.8 cm Pak 44 L/55 gun. The weapon gave the Jagdtiger considerable long-range anti-tank capability, while its massive armor protection made it extremely difficult for Allied tanks to penetrate from the front. The vehicle's enormous weight, however, placed severe demands on its engine, transmission, and running gear, contributing to frequent mechanical problems and limiting its mobility.
  • Jagdtiger No. 331 was a Henschel-suspension example manufactured at the Nibelungenwerke in October 1944. Its chassis number was 305020, and it was assigned to the 3rd Company of schwere Panzerjäger-Abteilung 653 in November 1944. The tactical number “331” identified it as the first vehicle of the third platoon within the 3rd Company. The commander was Leutnant Kasper Göggler. Unlike the small initial production batch equipped with Porsche suspension, No. 331 used the standard Henschel running gear with conventional torsion bars and nine double road wheels per side.
  • The 3rd Company of s.Pz.Jg.Abt. 653 saw combat on the Western Front during the final months of the war. In February 1945, the unit moved into the Landau and Hagenau areas before being deployed in the fighting in Alsace. On March 16, Allied forces broke through the Moder River line, prompting a German counterattack in which Jagdtigers of the 3rd Company came under repeated air and artillery attack near Morsbronn. The unit suffered several damaged and abandoned vehicles during these operations.
  • Jagdtiger 331 subsequently became involved in the fighting around Neustadt an der Weinstraße on March 23, 1945, during the advance of the U.S. 10th Armored Division's Task Force Cherry. Göggler commanded a group of six Jagdtigers, with three taking positions north of Neustadt against the advancing American armored column. U.S. M4 Shermans and M10 tank destroyers engaged the German vehicles, scoring multiple hits on Jagdtigers 331 and 323. No. 331 then withdrew into the town, where its frontal armor was struck repeatedly without being penetrated. The vehicle was eventually captured by American forces at Neustadt and survived the war.
  • This 1:32 scale model captures one of the most imposing German armored vehicles of the Second World War. Its distinctive late-war configuration and historically documented connection to the fighting around Morsbronn and Neustadt make it an exceptional addition to collections focused on German armor, the Western Front, or the final campaigns of World War II. A striking display piece for military history enthusiasts, this replica brings the enormous presence and formidable engineering of the Jagdtiger to life in a detailed 1:32 scale.
