  • HISTORY ASPECTS:
  • The Boeing 737 MAX 8 BBJ is a Boeing Business Jet based on the 737-8 MAX, combining the efficiency and range of the modern 737 MAX with a highly customized interior designed for executive, government, or VIP transportation. The aircraft uses CFM International LEAP-1B engines and incorporates the aerodynamic improvements and advanced systems of the 737 MAX family. The particular aircraft represented by N471US is construction number 61329, line number 6843, and first flew on March 15, 2018. It was originally delivered as N329BJ to Boeing Business Jets in November 2018.
  • After its initial BBJ career, the aircraft was registered N702F and operated for Fertitta Enterprises. Its VIP configuration reflected the aircraft's original purpose as a luxury long-range business jet rather than a conventional airline passenger aircraft. The aircraft remained N702F through much of the 2020s before being withdrawn from use in September 2025 and transferred into U.S. government service. In September 2025, it was recorded as an aircraft of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and it subsequently received the registration N471US.
  • N471US is not a U.S. Air Force aircraft in the official FAA registration record. The FAA identifies the registered owner as the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, with the aircraft classified as a government-registered Boeing 737-8. Aviation tracking sources identify U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as its operator. The aircraft carries a distinctive red, white, and blue government livery with “United States of America” on the forward fuselage, the name “Independence” near the cockpit, and a large American flag displayed on the tail.
  • Following its transfer to government service, N471US began appearing in operational flight tracking in late 2025. Its movements have included flights within the United States as well as international destinations, and public flight records have associated the aircraft with ICE charter operations. Because its government role is relatively recent and detailed mission information is not publicly available, specific individual missions should not be attributed to the aircraft without additional documentation. N471US has no conventional military combat history; its significance instead comes from its unusual transition from a private VIP Boeing Business Jet into a government-operated 737 MAX 8.
  • This 1:400 scale model captures an unusual and highly distinctive chapter in the aircraft's history. With its modern 737 MAX profile, VIP-derived BBJ configuration, striking red, white, and blue government markings, “United States of America” titles, and prominent American flag tail, the model makes a fascinating addition to collections of Boeing Business Jets, government aircraft, and unusual modern aviation subjects.
