  • HISTORY ASPECTS:
  • The Boeing 737-900ER is the largest member of Boeing's 737 Next Generation family, developed to provide greater passenger capacity and range while retaining the operating characteristics of the 737. The type uses CFM56-7B turbofan engines and incorporates the strengthened structure, additional fuel capacity, and other improvements that distinguish the -900ER from earlier 737-900 models. Sun Country Airlines has historically operated an almost entirely Boeing 737 fleet, and the 737-900ER has given the Minneapolis-based carrier additional capacity for high-demand scheduled and charter services.
  • N904SY is a Boeing 737-91M(ER), manufacturer serial number 44425, line number 5419. The aircraft was built at Boeing's Renton facility in 2015 and was originally delivered to Oman Air as A4O-BZ in May 2015. It operated with the Omani carrier for several years before becoming part of Sun Country's fleet. Sun Country took ownership of five 737-900ERs in 2023, although the aircraft initially remained in service with Oman Air under lease arrangements. N904SY was eventually returned from its lease, re-registered with Sun Country as N904SY in June 2025, and prepared for its new role with the Minnesota-based airline.
  • The arrival of N904SY represented an important development for Sun Country because the 737-900ER became the largest passenger aircraft type in the airline's fleet. Sun Country began introducing the type into scheduled passenger service in September 2025, initially deploying its 737-900ERs on routes from Minneapolis–St. Paul to destinations such as Phoenix and Las Vegas, followed by additional Florida services. The aircraft provided additional seating capacity compared with the carrier's 737-800s while maintaining commonality with Sun Country's all-737 operating philosophy.
  • N904SY subsequently became an active part of Sun Country's scheduled network, operating from its Minneapolis base to destinations across the United States. Flight records have documented the aircraft on routes including Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Orlando, Fort Myers, Boston, Phoenix, and Tampa, demonstrating the flexibility of the 737-900ER within Sun Country's leisure-oriented network. The aircraft is configured with 189 passenger seats in Sun Country service, giving the airline a higher-capacity option while preserving the operational familiarity of the 737 family. N904SY has no military combat history; its significance comes from its transition from Oman Air to Sun Country and its role in introducing the 737-900ER as a larger-capacity aircraft for the airline.
  • This 1:400 scale model captures an important addition to the carrier's modern fleet. The stretched 737-900ER proportions, distinctive Sun Country Airlines livery, and N904SY registration make this model an appealing addition for collectors of Sun Country aircraft, Boeing 737s, and contemporary U.S. airline fleets.
